2025 Winter Passes
Skiing and snowboarding from June 20th
Happy Valley Beginners Area is scheduled to open for skiing and snowboarding on June 20th. Additional terrain will open progressively as snow conditions permit throughout the season

Make your own adventure and create magic memories at Whakapapa in both summer and winter. Passes can be bought online, ahead of time, to save both time and money.

Sightseeing

Journey 1.8km up the northern face of Mt Ruapehu to 2020m, on the Sky Waka gondola.

The journey, both summer and winter, offers panoramic views of the volcanic landscape, out to neighbouring peaks of Mt Ngāuruhoe and Mt Tongariro, and across the central North Island.

Dine at the top in the Knoll Ridge Chalet, with offerings tailored to each season.

Skiing or Snowboarding

One pass to access all lift facilities at Whakapapa, spanning 550 hectares.

Choose from day or season passes, depending on what you want to get out of your season.

Dedicated beginner area and lower mountain day passes are available for those just starting out and progressing, while all mountain day passes give you access to up to 12 lifts, conditions pending.

#SneakAWeekday and save on weekday passes.

Sledding

In Winter, Whakapapa has a dedicated sledding area, with a gentle slope and up to three lanes, and a magic carpet that transports you back to the top.

Sledding sessions are 1 hour long, and give you access to a sled and the sledding area to slide down and come back up as many times as you'd like within your session. There are limited spots available, so it is always recommended to book.
