The last curtain

This is it, the very last day of the Mt Ruapehu 2008 winter season! It's looking pretty wonderful out there, so come up and enjoy the last of our spring snow.

Alpine Meadow ran out of snow at the start of the weekend and there is limited access through Mangawhero back down to the base area, so there are only intermediate and advanced runs still open. Plus of course sightseeing rides up to the top of the High Noon Express with glorious views all the way to Taranaki.

Don't forget, you can buy your 2009 Season Pass for only $350 from tomorrow for 2 weeks only (click here for more details) and Whakapapa reopens for the summer on 20 December. This will most likely include a fortnight of summer skiing until 4 January! Watch this space...

It's been a cracker of a season - thank you for sharing it with us and making it so great. It's been awesome. Have a fantastic summer and we look forward to seeing you back here in 2009.

A surprise treat

Yet another hot hot hot sunshiny day here at Turoa. Hope you're making the most of these last few days of the 'winter'...

As you may have already noticed, yesterday we launched the news that we will be selling SUPER cheap Snovember Earlybird 2009 Season Passes for just a couple of weeks starting the day after we close! $350 Adult, $180 Youth!! It's an absolutely awesome deal, so don't miss out - they'll be available for sale through our website Monday 17 - Sunday 30 November. There'll also be the chance for a few lucky people to get their pass for only $1... Click here for full details.

As usual, we will hold an Earlybird Season Pass sale in April 2009 as well and, while we cannot confirm what those prices will be, we can confidently say they will be higher than these Snovember pass prices. Earlybird Season Passes in 2008 were $419 for adults and $199 for youth.

For all the details on this mega special 2009 Season Pass deal, click on the post-it on the homepage, or click here.

Phew, another scorcher

There's a wee bit of cloud hanging around this morning, but it's pretty much yet another bright, scorching hot day up here at Turoa. Come up and enjoy the last 4 days of Snovember!!

Yesterday saw a major milestone - the 200,000th skier of the Mt Ruapehu winter season! We presented the lucky customer with a bottle of Lindauer and celebrated in the sunshine.

Let the sun shine in!!

It's feeling very summery here now, apart from the fact that we still have SOOO much snow and skiable access all the way to the bottom. WOOHOOOO! The forecast remains amazing all the way through to our very last day on Sunday. There are a lot of red goggle faces out there - keep slapping on the sunscreen and enjoy what has become a wonderful Snovember!!

Condolences

You will probably have heard or read about Adele Sawyer who died in an accident while snowboarding at Turoa at the weekend. We offer our sincere condolences to Adele’s family and friends. It has been a sad and difficult weekend for many people. Our General Manager Dave Mazey says: “Our sincere sympathies go out to the family and friends of Adele. I’d also like to thank the Turoa staff who were involved – it was a very hard day for them as well.”

The accident is being fully investigated by the Police and has been referred to the Coroner. RAL staff will continue to work closely with the authorities on the investigation.

Still blazing

The sun is still beating down on us up here at Turoa. After a shaky start, Snovember is really treating us to the best it can offer. No bikinis in sight yet, but there is plenty of T-shirt skiing and riding going on and even some topless guys. So what are you waiting for? Get up here!!
