Our commitment
To people and place

As a team, we recently drew a fresh line in the snow, and signalled a new direction for our company.

At the time, in May 2022, we stood at a pivotal moment in the history of Mt Ruapehu, where like many other businesses around the world, particularly in tourism, RAL faced immense challenges – socially, environmentally, and economically. We knew we had to step up from where we stood, and knew that to get the future we designed, we also had to work together with our wider community.

And so, we created – At Our Peak / Kei tō tātou tihi – our commitment to caring for people and place.

What is At Our Peak?

At Our Peak is an aspirational framework, set to guide us in everything we do. We know we can succeed when we are at our peak. At our peak, we take pride in our heritage, empower those around us, and deliver on our responsibility to the environment, ensuring we nurture and maintain our precious resources, for many generations to come.

At Our Peak leads with our guiding principle – to uplift the ‘Mana of the Maunga’. It strengthens our values of Manaakitanga (for people), Kaitiakitanga (for place), and Kotahitanga (together as one). It signals the constructive behaviours that as a company, we must uphold.

At Our Peak also consolidates our initiatives. It drives our long-term strategy – our goals, our priorities, and our targets. With a goal of mutual prosperity for our wider community, and building on our commitment to transparent communication.
